As President of Birchwood Advisors, a Houston-based consulting firm, he focuses on price and project management within the global energy markets.Throughout his career, Stuart has held executive positions at major global firms, where his strategic acumen has driven substantial financial growth. At TotalEnergies (2012-2021), Stuart was instrumental in revitalizing the company’s derivatives platform across Asia and North America. His leadership facilitated strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the EMEA financial, refining, and production sectors while expanding Total’s footprint in the Americas and Europe, particularly in collaboration with private equity firms. He also played a key role in developing the ASEAN platform, advancing the company’s East of Suez portfolio, and managing over $100 million in bilateral credit exposure.

Prior to TotalEnergies, Stuart served as Portfolio Manager at ARCIM Advisors (2008-2012), where he managed a $150 million energy portfolio and successfully navigated the fund through the 2008 financial crisis. His earlier roles at Credit Suisse (2006-2008) and Deutsche Bank (2003-2006) showcased his expertise in commodity trading, where he delivered strong profitability and expanded client networks.

In his early career, Stuart was a pivotal figure at Sempra Trading (2000-2003) and Elf Aquitaine (1995-2000), where he contributed to building physical and derivative portfolios across Europe and Asia, working closely with National Oil Companies in the Arabian Gulf.

Stuart began his career at Morgan Stanley Capital Group, where his sharp analytical and trading skills laid the foundation for his continued success in global energy markets.
